Booking and Money
Version 1 · In effect since July 31, 2026
How booking, paying, cancelling and refunds work, from a learner's side.
Booking
Choosing a time holds it for you for a short window while you pay. If you do not pay within that window the time is released for someone else. Holding times you do not intend to pay for is treated as abuse of the booking system, and repeated unpaid holds earn a cooling-off period.
You cannot book your own offering. If you both teach and learn here, that is fine, but not with yourself.
Trials
Many professionals offer a discounted first session.
- A trial is for a first session with someone you have not booked before. Once you have booked a person, further sessions with them are at the normal price.
- There is a limit on how many trials one person can take in total. You are told when you reach it.
- A very new account cannot book a trial immediately. This is a fraud control and it lifts on its own; a normal session can be booked straight away.
Paying
Prices are shown including everything you will be charged. Your payment is held until the session has happened, and only then released to the professional. That is the mechanism behind everything below.
Cancelling and rescheduling
Cancelling well before the session gets your money back in full. Cancelling close to the start does not, because the professional has held that time for you and turned other work away. The exact cut-off is shown to you on the booking itself and before you confirm.
Rescheduling is a cancellation and a new booking, and the same cut-off applies.
When the session does not happen
- If the professional does not join, your payment is returned to you automatically. You do not have to ask.
- If you do not join, the professional is paid. They held the time.
- If neither of you could join because something on our side failed, you are refunded and the professional is compensated. That is our problem, not yours to split.
Automatic refunds are occasionally held for a person to look at first, and if that happens you are told. It does not mean the refund has been refused.
Disputes
If something went wrong that the rules above do not cover, open a dispute on the booking. A person reads it. Where a session was recorded, the recording is kept while the dispute is open.
Opening disputes constantly, on a large share of your bookings, is itself a pattern we act on: it stops the automatic side of the process from applying to you and sends everything to manual review instead.
